PULSE 60

PULSE 60
The Dominique Renaud brand follows a path of pure innovation, questioning the very nature of mechanics, time, and its representation, with each creation expressing a new horological approach through an evident form housing a radical mechanism rethought from its foundations. Founded in 2026, the brand presents the most accomplished vision of Dominique Renaud’s work as an inventor and designer, combining strong horological principles with an exploratory, minimalist, and disruptive aesthetic that transcends established codes, where each piece is instantly recognizable through its architecture and the unique spectacle of its display, revealing perfect coherence between function and form. A pioneering movement constructor and non-conformist inspired by collaboration and nature, particularly the mountains, Dominique Renaud continues to shape the future of watchmaking through creations that express a singular and unmistakable character.

The Pulse 60 explores uncharted territory in low-frequency watchmaking, featuring a 1Hz movement—the lowest frequency in contemporary mechanical horology—with a balance wheel oscillating just 60 times per minute, mirroring the resting human heartbeat and reducing impulses and shocks to the escapement for greater stability.
To fully harness this frequency, the movement relies on a massive 2 cm balance wheel, a characteristic typically reserved for marine chronometry, offering superior resistance to torque variations and shocks; much like a tightrope walker’s pole, its stabilized center of gravity transforms each tick into a slow, controlled, and deliberate beat.

The Pulse 60 also pushes mechanical limits through a completely redesigned construction of the balance wheel, plate, and escape pin assembly, achieving an amplitude exceeding 360° without rebattement—overcoming the traditional constraint of “over-swing,” where excessive amplitude would cause interference with the escapement thus maintaining operation far from the mechanical “breaker” and ensuring consistent performance even under disturbance.

While the seconds are marked by a single oscillation around which the entire movement is organized.

This exceptional amplitude allows the balance wheel to remain free for longer and over a greater arc, governed more by its own dynamics than by escapement interaction, minimizing disturbances and bringing the movement closer to the behavior of an ideal oscillator with enhanced stability and precision.
