Renaud Tixier

Two pioneer and visionary watchmakers, Dominique Renaud and Julien Tixier unite decades of innovation with a new generation of craftsmanship. A first meeting in 2016 sparked a partnership between blending research-driven creativity with production precision.

Following this success, they officially founded Renaud Tixier, dedicated to limited production, exceptional finishing, and rethinking the fundamentals of watchmaking—without unnecessary complexity. Their vision includes seven original innovations, each expressed through a watch named after a day of the week, with collectors invited to take part in the journey.

Renaud, co-founder of Renaud & Papi, has shaped modern haute horlogerie for over 40 years with 25 original movements to his name. Tixier brings exceptional mastery of design, materials, and precision machining, driven by an uncompromising pursuit of artisanal perfection.

Their early collaborations produced exceptional secular perpetual calendars, earning international acclaim and a 2022 GPHG nomination. The shared vision culminated eight years later in the creation of RENAUD TIXIER.

The series begins with Monday, the brand’s first creation. Featuring a micro-rotor and an innovative energy system called the dancer, it distills years of research into a single, expressive timepiece—marking the start of something new.

In this innovation, Dominique Renaud reexamines a fundamental element of mechanical watchmaking: energy. Derived from the automatic rotor, this system has seen little evolution since the 1930s–40s. While the micro-rotor offers unobstructed views of the movement, it suffers from low efficiency, as its motion is frequently interrupted by everyday movements.

The challenge was to recover energy that traditional micro-rotors fail to convert—using micromechanics alone, without external technology.

The solution lies in a sophisticated system: a large spiral acts as a catapult between the axis and flywheel, while a spring arm absorbs shocks. A hanger mechanism secures the flywheel during normal operation and disengages during impact, protecting the system before automatically resetting.

The dial emphasizes simplicity and refinement in design, highlighting the timepiece's innovation. It features an open view of the flywheel at nine o'clock, complemented by a small seconds display at four o'clock. The watch measures 40.8mm x 11mm.

The Monday Organica reinterprets the watch with a platinum case and a métiers d’art dial by Atelier Olivier Vaucher, featuring layered hand-engraved metal beneath blue grand feu flinqué enamel that echoes the movement, visible through the exhibition case back.

Engraving

Coralie Mercier is recognized as a virtuoso in the delicate art of watch engraving. Monday embodies Coralie’s hand-engraving savoir-faire, passed down through generations. The fully engraved case, lugs, and barrel ratchet set the stage for enameling.

Enameling

Maëlle Constant's enameling reflects deep expertise and balances precision and intuition: carefully prepared glazes, delicately applied, then fired to the second. Mastery lies in knowing exactly when and how long—guided by an instinct forged through generations of rare savoir-faire.
